Arsenal’s newest summer signing has been pictured flying to North London to complete a medical before the deal is officially completed.
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have been incredibly frustrated in the transfer market this summer with the Gunners missing out on two players in two key areas.
Benjamin Sesko ended speculation of a move to Arsenal after putting pen to paper on a new deal at RB Leipzig, which contains a release clause that becomes active next summer.
Whilst Arsenal’s key midfield target, Martin Zubimendi, has seemingly turned down Arsenal’s approach with there being a belief from within the club that the 25-year-old would prefer a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona.
However, the club’s luck appears to be changing in the transfer window.

Riccardo Calafiori pictured heading for his Arsenal medical
HITC had reported last week that Riccardo Calafiori had been cleared to complete his medical before joining Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
After it had previously looked like Juventus were going to sign the Bologna defender, who was hailed as the next Franco Baresi following his performances at Euro 2024, the Gunners swooped in and have got a deal done.
Now, a picture has emerged, courtesy of Fabrizio Romano on X, of the Italian defender heading for his medical with the Gunners.
Calafiori was picured with Chairman & founder of WSA Agency Alessandro Lucci and CEO Alessio Ceccarelli with the move finally set to be ratified.
The Italian defender will be Arsenal’s first major signing of the summer but it appears that he won’t be the last in North London.
Arsenal’s plan in the window following Calafiori deal
HITC had reported that the Gunners would move onto their midfield once the signing of Calafiori is complete with Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino of interest to Mikel Arteta.
However, sales may have to take priority with midfielder Emile Smith Rowe closing in on a move to Fulham.
The future of defender Jakub Kiwior is also up in the air as the Polish international may now be limited in his game time once Calafiori arrives.
Sources have told HITC that Arsenal have informed Kiwior he is free to leave the club with Inter Milan the side who are the favourites to sign him.
It promises to be a busy month for the Gunners.
