FC Copenhagen starlet Roony Bardghji has been quizzed about a potential £20 million move to Tottenham Hotspur after fellow Swede Lucas Bergvall joined Dejan Kulusevski at the Premier League giants.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Kulusevski played a key role in luring one of Scandinavia’s brightest talents to North London last week. Lucas Bergvall resisted the advances of even Barcelona before putting pen to paper on a long-term contract.

Tottenham’s Swedish recruitment drive may only be two-thirds done as well. HITC Football understanding that Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur outfit are one of a number of Premier League clubs keen on the £20 million-rated Roony Bardghji.

“It’s fun to think about,” the Copenhagen whizzkid tells SportBladet when asked about the prospect of following in the footsteps of Bergvall and Kulusevski.

“You never know, it could happen. Hard to say now.”

HITC has been informed that Aston Villa, Brentford and Newcastle United are also keen on Roony Bardghji, who scored a goal reminiscent of his near-namesake during Copenhagen’s stunning Champions League victory over Manchester United late last year.

Bardghji only celebrated his 18th birthday in November. Has scored nine times in all competitions this season already, however. That ‘Swedish Messi’ nickname a testament to the teenager’s obvious potential.

“It was always Messi. No one else, to be honest, when I was young,” Bardghji told The Athletic recently. “I always watched his clips and always tried to do the same on the pitch. I just love Messi.”

Spurs snap up some of Europe’s brightest talent

Tottenham will face plenty of competition in the race to snap up the coveted Bardghji in the summer. Though the success of landing Bergvall from under the noses of Barcelona – as well as the similarly eye-catching swoops for Radu Dragusin, Guglielmo Vicario and Destiny Udogie – paints the picture of a club becoming increasingly attracting to some of Europe’s finest young talents.

Dragusin was a Bayern Munich target. Inter Milan, meanwhile, wanted Vicario and Udogie.

“There has been an incredible amount of speculation. You have surely noticed the interest,” Boss Andersson, Djurgardens’ sporting director, tells Fotbollskanalen when explaining how Bergvall’s £8.5 million move to the English capital came about.

“We have had concrete talks with very big clubs in Europe. I am extremely proud of what we have achieved, that the Bergvall family and Lucas have had these choices. It’s good for Djurgardens and it’s good for Swedish football. I’m extremely proud of the discussions we’re having.”
