Tottenham Hotspur have officially beaten Barcelona to Lucas Bergvall with the sporting director of his former club delighted to see the Sweden international end up at the Premier League giants.
It was a proud week for IF Brommapojkarna.
Just one day after Bayern Munich announced the signing of 16-year-old sensation Jonah Kusi-Asare, another graduate of the renowned BP finishing school put pen to paper with another giant of European football.
Lucas Bergvall completed his £8.5 million move to Tottenham Hotspur on Friday, agreeing to join the North London outfit in the summer.

Tottenham sign Lucas Bergvall
“It is not the first time a BP-raised player goes to a bigger club,” smiles Philip Berglund, Brommapojkarna’s sporting director speaking to Fotbollskanalen and Aftonbladet.
“But it goes without saying that, if this club is to survive and grow in the long term, we need to continue to nurture players, and sell for even more money. We are a club that basically lacks audience and sponsor revenue, to some extent in comparison to many other clubs.
“We must produce the new Kusi-Asare and Bergvall.”
Bergvall, who is still only 18, moved to Djurgardens from Brommapojkarna last year. His £8.5 million switch, while mostly going to Djurgardens, also presents the Stockholm-based BP with a sizeable windfall.
Arguably the most exciting Scandinavian talent of his generation alongside Norway’s Antonio Nusa, Bergvall now follows in hte footsteps of another Brommapojkarna graduate in Spurs’ own Dejan Kulusevski.
Spurs win Barcelona battle
“It is clear that it means a lot to us as a club when our academy players take such steps,” Berglund adds. “It is prove that we run a good youth system.
“Two former BP players in one of the world’s biggest clubs (Bayern and Tottenham). Awesome! A good job by Lucas himself and by Djurgardens as well. Great fun.”
Barcelona president Joan Laporta admitted earlier in the week that they wanted Bergvall too. The La Liga champions, with their much-publicised financial issues, could not match the fee put down by Tottenham however.
