Yankees fans ‘crash out’ over latest Anthony Volpe error in 9th inning of White Sox game

New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe did not exactly endear himself with the fans during Monday’s win over the Chicago White Sox.

Although Aaron Boone’s side secured the win at Rate Field, it was a ninth inning to forget for Volpe.

One run was allowed by the Yankees in the final inning as they sealed a comfortable 9-5 victory to take their record to 60-46.

However, for Volpe, the 25-year-old will have some making up to do with the Yankees fanbase after he dropped a routine catch, which would have brought an end to the game.

Having thrown one away in the recent game against the Philadelphia Phillies, Yankees fans were left furious with Volpe following his latest error.

Regular errors from Volpe even have some fans suggesting that his time with the team should be heading towards an end.

The Yankees are aiming to claim their first World Series win since 2009, and errors like those from Volpe could have some serious consequences in the games where more is on the line.

‘Volpe’s time with the Yankees should be over at this point. They’re lucky the White Sox are just an AL Central mirage because this could have been bad,’ said one fan.

‘This dude needs to be delivering my DoorDash bro,’ another fan jokingly said.

Volpe ended the game against the White Sox with one RBI, but it was his drop in the ninth that has stuck firmly in the minds of the fans.

One fan suggested Volpe dropped the ball so no other team wanted to trade for him, they said: ‘He’s lowering his value so he can’t be traded’.

‘He had no business trying to catch that. Jazz should’ve been there or an outfielder. This is ridiculous,’ one Yankees fan said.

If Volpe remains in the starting lineup, there is the danger of fans becoming seriously frustrated.

‘Dude is the biggest embarrassment on the team. He doesn’t deserve to be a major leaguer at all. It’s disgusting that he’s even still on the team,’ said one angry Yankees fan.

‘I’m so sick of the Yankees forcing this guy on us!!!’ claimed another.

‘Volpe drops the ball and me and my son crash out,’ added one furious fan.

The Yankees face the White Sox again tonight, which will potentially provide Volpe with an opportunity to win back some of the supporters.
