Is Gary Neville an Arsenal fan? Thousands have been asking today after an old photo of the Sky Sports pundit emerged on Twitter.

The 48-year-old has become an enemy of the Emirates Stadium faithful in recent years after some of his comments against the Gunners, including one remark in January in which he claimed Arsenal won’t even finish in the top two this season.

Just yesterday – Thursday 30th March – Neville mocked some Arsenal fans for backtracking on their demand that Mikel Arteta receive the sack in 2022.

So, why are thousands now saying that the Manchester United legend supports Arsenal? Let’s take a look…

Is Gary Neville an Arsenal fan?

Well, Neville is a Manchester United fan, but a number of people on social media spread the rumour that he supported Arsenal growing up after an old photo of him seemingly wearing a Gunners shirt emerged online.

You can see the photo which has gone viral below.

Where Arsenal fans even found that picture is a mystery, to say the least.

While there is certainly a cannon on the front of that shirt, other Twitter users have claimed that is is actually a repurposed shirt made for Bury’s junior side – Neville’s local team during his childhood.

You can see a zoomed out version of the image below, which shows it was not an official Arsenal shirt – the Gunners never used that sponsor on any of their strips.

Yes, that is supposedly Phil Neville on the left.

The theory behind the picture which some supporters spread was that Neville is so critical of Arsenal because he was released by the Gunners as a child, which is nothing short of nonsense.

Neville joined Manchester United at the age of 16 after leaving school, and went on to spend his entire career at Old Trafford, making 600 appearances in total while remarkably winning 12 Premier League titles in addition to other trophies.

To put it simply, Neville is most certainly not an Arsenal fan, nor was he ever a supporter of the Gunners.
