Gary Neville has fired back at Arsenal fans about several of them wanting Mikel Arteta to be sacked as recently as last season.
The Manchester United legend tends to get in trouble with the Gunners fanbase about his opinions on the club; from doubting Oleksandr Zinchenko’s leadership abilities to their title hopes.
While Gary Neville tends to get a lot of stick from Arsenal fans, he decided to aim a dig at their treatment of Mikel Arteta until very recently.
What’s happened now between Neville & Arsenal fans about Arteta?
Often, Neville is vilified by the club’s vocal fanbase online for being doubtful of Arteta as well as their players as well.

Many strongly believe that due to United and Arsenal’s battles during the Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger days, his animosity will never die down.
As a video where Gary Neville questioned whether Mikel Arteta could even finish 4th with this Arsenal side was shared on Twitter as fans criticised him yet again, he retorted saying:
“One year ago, you lot were asking for him to be sacked.”
From then on, Neville and Arsenal fans continued their war of words, as the former continued to share articles, reminding them of how much stick Arteta was getting from them.
In our view: What is the big deal?
The Sky pundit had an opinion and he got it horribly wrong.
It happens to the best of us, and often, season after season.
The same is the case with Gary Neville about the Spanish tactician, which begs the question why some Arsenal fans continue to criticise him to this day.
At the end of last season, when the North Londoners failed to get into the top four, with Manchester City and Liverpool dominating, their quest for the top spot seemed beyond their reach.
But fair play to Arteta and his side for proving many of their doubters wrong in emphatic fashion.
