Why did Madueke leave Spurs? Many have asked on Google after hearing that the PSV Eindhoven No.10 is close to joining Chelsea.
The 20-year-old has agreed to move back to London after the Blues struck a €35m (£31m) deal with the Eredivisie outfit, and will now fly to Stamford Bridge to undergo a medical – according to Fabrizio Romano.
With the England Under-21 international’s name currently dominating the headlines, it has become common knowledge that he used to play for Chelsea’s London rivals Tottenham, although few know why he departed.
So, why did Madueke leave Spurs? Let’s take a look…
Why Noni Madueke left Tottenham
Well, the exciting winger actually joined Tottenham in 2014 after spending three years with Crystal Palace.
Madueke went on to captain the Tottenham Under-16 side and also made his debut for the Under-18 side at the age of just 16.
However, the Barnet-born wonderkid was desperate to play “man football” in the first-team, so he chose to leave Spurs, and also reject an offer from Manchester United, to join PSV Eindhoven.

As quoted by the Mirror, Madueke said: “At 16 years old I felt I was ready for a first team. I backed myself 100%.
“I am very impatient! The quicker you get young talents into first team football the quicker they get ahead of the talent of other nations.”
Madueke also hinted that life in London was distracting him from fulfilling his potential in football.
The Chelsea target added: “Holland is nice. It is quieter than London. It minimises distractions being away, and the focus is on football.”
It’s safe to say Madueke made the right choice.
The Crystal Palace and Tottenham academy starlet registered 80 appearances for PSV Eindhoven before Chelsea came calling, scoring 20 goals while also providing 14 assists as he became one of the best talents in Europe.
Hopefully, Graham Potter helps Madueke continue his rapid development, and he can take the Premier League by storm.
