Who is Adedire Mebude? The Manchester City wonderkid has caught the eye of Tottenham and others after leaving Rangers in October 2020.
It was the Evening Standard who revealed that Spurs are keen to sign the 18-year-old prodigy, with Newcastle also interested in luring him away from Manchester as contract talks stall.
So, who is Adedire Mebude? Let’s take a look…
Who is Adedire Mebude?
Well, Rangers will surely be devastated that the 18-year-old chose to leave Ibrox.
Mebude is currently among the top scorers in the Premier League 2 with six goals in 11 appearances so far this season.
The teenager has also provided three assists in England’s leading division for young prospects.
Furthermore, Mebude has scored three goals in five UEFA Youth League outings this season.
The rapid winger joined Rangers at the age of ten with his brother, Dapo, after his family moved to Scotland.
Mebude turned down the offer of a professional contract at Ibrox to join Manchester City when he was just 16, where he would benefit from elite facilities despite having a simpler pathway into the first-team at Rangers.
The Manchester City prodigy has since won four caps for the Scotland Under-16 side and eight caps for the Under-19 team.
Mebude was also named Players’ Player of the Year in the Manchester City Under-18 side last season after helping them win the league title, scoring 12 goals while also providing 17 assists.

However – as mentioned previously – the Scottish wonderkid is currently stalling over signing a new contract with the Citizens, with the Evening Standard claiming that Southampton, PSV Eindhoven and Club Brugge are also monitoring the situation along with Tottenham and Newcastle.
Mebude’s contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in June 2024.
