English pubs have been permitted to stay open 30 minutes after the full-time whistle of tonight’s quarter-final clash with Norway.
This decision comes after the round of 16 match against Mexico was delayed due to thunderstorms, and ensures England fans will be able to sit with the result, whether that be a win or a loss.
It’s a good policy, and one which might be put into practice tonight, with concerns growing over the heat in Miami causing a potential delay.
Miami issues extreme heat warning ahead of England vs Norway
The City of Miami’s X account shared the warning on Saturday, with temperatures expected to rise to 29-32°C before the 5 pm kick-off (10 pm GMT). Real feel could exceed 40°C.
In a statement, they said: “Major HeatRisk is in effect across much of South Florida today.
“High temperatures and humidity can increase the risk of heat-related illness. Stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day, and spend time in air-conditioned spaces whenever possible. Stay informed.”

FIFPRO regulations say that World Cup matches can be postponed if temperatures exceed 28°C. Miami Stadium does not have air conditioning, so these extreme conditions have to be taken seriously.
That being said, there is no indication that kick-off will be delayed. Even if it is, those back here in England and Wales won’t have their nights out ruined.
Not long to go now.
