The 2026 World Cup is now officially over, and Spain have been crowned champions after beating Argentina.
Neither team was able to find the back of the net after 90 minutes of action, meaning extra time was needed.
In the end, Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the match in the 106th minute to crown Spain champions.
Argentina tried hard to get back into the match but could not get an equaliser. Once the full-time whistle had gone, many Spain players were overcome with joy, while one Argentina player, Leandro Paredes, ‘kicked off’.

During coverage of the final, the BBC reported that: “Scenes of joy but also some ugly scenes at full time as Leandro Paredes kicks off in the middle of the pitch.
“It is not the time for that. Emotions are high, but that is not the way to lose.”
Former soccer player Alan Shearer shared his thoughts on Paredes’ actions when speaking to the BBC after the game.
He said: “Paredes threw two or three haymakers into someone’s face. He went for them. There is no place or space for that.
“We know how much it means to them and we know how much it hurts to lose, but there is a way to lose. Too many times we have seen that from Argentina. The reaction after the final whistle is terrible.”
It remains to be seen if Argentina will face any sort of punishment for the actions which took place after the World Cup final finished.
