Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool have all been mentioned by name in the wake of Manchester City‘s Premier League charge.

What’s the story?

Well, the Gunners, Spurs and the Reds were all said to have been pressing hardest for action to be taken on the Citizens, along with Manchester United and Chelsea.

That is according to Sky Sports, who claim that most of the Premier League’s so-called Big Six were the ones pushing for Manchester City to be punished before the Premier League decided to release a statement.

Manchester City have been charged with over 100 breaches of financial rules by the Premier League, in a development which could end up being the most significant financial scandal in English football if they are found guilty.

You can understand why the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool would want Manchester City to be punished.

The Citizens have dominated English football across the past decade, ruining the aforementioned side’s hopes of glory along the way.

Therefore, if it is discovered that they achieved their accomplishments illegally, then you would expect the other five of the so-called Big Six to demand the most severe punishment possible.

Arsenal, Tottenham & Liverpool may have to wait for Manchester City punishment

If Manchester City are to be punished, it seemingly won’t happen anytime soon.

According to The Athletic, the potential repercussions of what the Citizens have allegedly been up to may not be felt until Pep Guardiola leaves the Etihad Stadium when his contract expires in June 2025.

Until that point, we would imagine that Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool – along with Manchester United and Chelsea – will continue to push hard for sanctions, while Manchester City will defend their corner.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as it could turn out to be the biggest footballing scandal in recent years, if not in history.
