Arsenal insiders have reportedly given their verdict on Ethan Nwaneri’s performances for the Gunners during pre-season.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal finished second in the Premier League table and were pipped to the title by Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.

New signings for the Gunners are set to be key for their hopes of winning the league title with Arsenal confirming the signing of Riccardo Calafiori earlier this week with the Italian set to be the first-choice defensive option at left-back.

However, whilst new signings will be important for the Gunners, the first-team squad will need to be supplemented by academy players, which has not yet been seen under Arteta.

Arsenal insiders give verdict on Ethan Nwaneri

Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri are the two players who have made quite an impact for the Gunners during pre-season.

Arsenal fans were keen to praise Nwaneri for his performance against AFC Bournemouth in the Gunners’ opening pre-season game of the US tour.

Arsenal fans may well be hoping to see more of the Englishman who shone against United last week and a report from the Daily Mail has explained how people within the club are feeling about the teenager.

The report claims that many people at Arsenal ‘believe this could well be Nwaneri’s real breakthrough season’ at the top level.

Arteta reportedly sees potential in Nwaneri and he could be in line for a call-up to the first team squad ahead of the new season, although how much game time he would receive for the Gunners is unclear.

Arteta has to give more chances to these academy players

Arsenal are still reeling from the loss of Chido Obi-Martin, who is heading to Manchester United, and this will be of big concern for the Gunners.

Since becoming manager of Arsenal back in 2019, Arteta has failed to give many promising academy players consistent chances, apart from Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe.

In Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly, Arsenal have two talented teenagers who certainly look ready for some key involvement in the first team for the Gunners.

Arteta has to give these players chances this summer so they can show what they can do and offer more options for the Spaniard in the first team.
