Arsenal fans have been reacting to two academy players’ performances during the pre-season friendly against Bournemouth.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are in for a big season with the North London club hoping to finally win the Premier League title after being pipped to the title by Manchester City.

Part of what will help Arsenal improve heading into the new season is additions to the club that is certainly needed heading into the next campaign.

HITC reported earlier this week that Arsenal had struck a full agreement with Bologna for the signing of Riccardo Calafiori with the Italian defender given permission to undergo his medical.

However, the integration of academy players will also be key.

Two academy players could well have a big say on the season and one is forward Ethan Nwaneri, who is the club’s youngest player to ever make an appearance for the club at just 15.

Lewis Skelly also has been tipped for a long time to break into the Arsenal first team squad with the midfielder having exceptional talent on the ball.

Arsenal drew 1-1 against Bournemouth during the United States tour with the Gunners winning 5-4 on penalties against the Cherries.

Fans were keen to praise the impact of the pair. “It’s clear to see he’s ready to make an impact for Arsenal’s 1st team this season,” one fan said of Nwaneri.

Another fan said: “Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri are ridiculous talents.” “Ethan Nwaneri is the next starboy from Arsenal,” a third said.

“Myles Lewis Skelly is him,” one fan said of the midfielder, who was playing in defence.

A fifth fan hailed Lewis Skelly as a ‘dazzling player’. With another fan saying: “Myles Lewis Skelly what a baller.”

Arteta should give Nwaneri and Lewis Skelly a go

Barring Emile Smith Rowe, who could well be on his way to Crystal Palace or Fulham, Mikel Arteta has not really given many chances to the academy players in the team.

Bukayo Saka was brought through under Unai Emery but Arteta has a chance to bring through two academy players of his own.

Arsenal’s latest signing Tommy Setford was quick to praise Nwaneri for being a ‘great guy’ and the pair deserve a chance following their performances out in the States.
