Aaron Ramsdale has hailed Rob Holding on Instagram following Arsenal’s Community Shield win over Manchester City at Wembley on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s side, who were on a losing streak against Pep Guardiola’s men, scored a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser against Manchester City, before winning the tie on penalties.

Every man in Arsenal colours put his spot kick away, with Rob Holding expressing his delight on Instagram by posting ‘another one’.

His fellow teammate, Aaron Ramsdale, posted in the comments section ‘what a guy’, whilst others sent their congratulations.

Holding was an unused substitute during the game, with Arteta starting with his regular pairing of William Saliba and Gabriel.

It remains to be seen what role Holding plays this forthcoming season, amid questions about his future, with the 27-year-old posting the following message on his IG

“Another one,” said Holding. “We will take it. Great start to the season. Number 3 as well.”

Will Holding leave Arsenal?

When the Englishman came in for the injured Saliba during the final few months of last season, he struggled and showcased the gulf in class between the two.

There have been suggestions that Arteta could part ways with the player this summer, with Jurrien Timber through the doors, he has the ability to play at the heart of the defence.

Yes, he is being used at fullback and playing very well, but he played at centre-back for Ajax last season, so that’s another player that could push Holding down the pecking order, as well as January capture, Jakub Kiwior.
