Sheffield United assume Kean Bryan won’t return to Bramall Lane as Championship rivals West Brom look to snap up the talented defender, as reported by The Star.
With the club’s transfer plans in stasis for the time being – the Baggies can only afford to bring in big-money signings if they sell Matheus Pereira and Sam Johnstone first – the chance to snap up Bryan on a free transfer feels like an opportunity too good to miss.
The former Manchester City youngster is out of contract.
And while Sheffield United have done their level best to tie him down to a new deal, you get the feeling if Bryan really wanted to stay at the Steel City outfit he’d have put pen to paper long ago.
“The club informs me they’ve offered him the contract and at the moment I don’t have any information that we’ve received an answer,” Sheffield United manager Slavisa Jokanovic said earlier this month.
“He’s out of contract and I am really not thinking about him.”
Will Kean Bryan swap Sheffield United for West Brom?
The Star reports Bryan is training alone and has been left out of Sheffield United’s pre-season plans.
And there’s a growing acceptance the 24-year-old won’t be wearing red and white when this season kicks off.
So while Bryan does appear to have slammed the door shut in Sheffield United’s face, a window of opportunity may be about to open up at West Bromwich Albion.

According to The Sun, Valerien Ismael’s Baggies hope to reinforce a defence that conceded a league-high 75 goals en route to relegation last term.
And Bryan ticks a lot of boxes. The one-time Rangers target is young, versatile and, most importantly, affordable.
Despite failing to spend a single penny on signings since Ismael took charge, West Brom have still managed to bring in two proven Championship performers in free agent Alex Mowatt and loanee Matt Clarke.
