Paul Merson has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have made a ‘great signing’ in the form of Ivan Perisic.
The former Inter Milan winger is the first player who signed for Spurs in what’s proving a very exciting window.
With Richarlison reportedly on the way, Anthony Gordon wanting a move to North London and Yves Bissouma already signed up, Tottenham are doing some great business.
But Merson believes that Perisic – signed as a free transfer – could be among the best of the bunch.
He told Sportskeeda: “I’m a huge fan of Ivan Perisic, he’s a top player who works as hard as anybody else on the pitch. For every young kid who wants to be a professional footballer – watch this player and see how he makes things happen on the pitch.
“He sets the tone with his work ethic and professionalism and will turn out to be a great signing for Tottenham.”
Excitingly for Tottenham supporters, this is someone who Antonio Conte will know relatively well, having managed him at Inter Milan.
And Conte probably wouldn’t have brought him in if he didn’t believe that he could enjoy a rapid transition to life in North London.
With 113 caps for Croatia and turning 34 next February, this is a vastly-experienced footballer but despite the aging process, Conte will believe that he can do a job and that has to be trusted.
