Craig Burley has claimed that Leeds will still find it ‘very tough’ next season even if they sign Tyler Adams, as he joked that if they get relegated that they can ‘blame the Americans’, as he told ESPN on US TV.
The former striker added that with Kalvin Phillips out of the exit door, and Raphinha seemingly set to follow him, then he can’t see things going well for Leeds next season.
The Whites have known for a while that they were going to lose their star men and they have been pro-active in the summer window, as a result.

It has been suggested that Adams is edging closer to joining from RB Leizpig and providing some much-needed quality to Marsch’s midfield.
But when Burley was asked about the potential Adams signing, he had his doubts about what the new players could do without Raphinha and Phillips
“At least if Leeds get relegated, we can blame the Americans,” joked Burley on US TV. “You know there is going to be a lot of talk about it because we have already had Jesse Marsch, who did a pretty good job in keeping them up.
“When you lose those players (Phillips and Raphinha), then it’s not going to be easy. It’s okay bringing in players that you know from different leagues.
“But I could see this, at the moment, losing the players that they had, then it being a very tough season for Leeds.”

LAST SEASON TROUBLES
Leeds did face a mighty relegation battle last season and one that required Jack Harrison to fire home on the final day of the Premier League campaign just to be sure.
But, they suffered injury, after injury, after injury last time out, so surely their luck can’t be as bad next term and having a more fully fit squad will change the tide.
Plus, Marsch is bringing more added quality into the squad, so that will be a relief to the players, plus if Patrick Bamford can stay out of the treatment room, then it will allow the XI to feel more balanced.
The key thing is that the Yorkshire club have got their fee for Phillips and four players in before they can jet-off for pre-season, so that will be of great help to Marsch.
