Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal may still have a chance of signing Leeds United winger Raphinha ahead of Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona want Leeds winger Raphinha

The Mirror have reported interest from Arsenal and Chelsea in Leeds and Brazil international winger Raphinha.

The Times reported over the weekend that Arsenal made a bid of £35 million for the 25-year-old last week.

Leeds rejected that offer.

The Daily Mail have now reported that although Chelsea have an agreement in place with Leeds for Raphinha, Barcelona’s bid for the former Rennes star has yet to be accepted.

Barcelona bid not yet accepted

The report has claimed that Chelsea are willing to pay Leeds £55 million plus add-ons for Raphinha, described as “unbelievable” by his Elland Road teammate Kevin Phillips on the club’s YouTube channel in May 2022.

Barcelona have offered Leeds £51 million to be paid in three instalments, but Leeds have yet to accept it, according to The Daily Mail.

The report has claimed that Barcelona is Raphinha’s preferred destination.

Gunners transfer possible?

In our view, if Leeds do not accept Barcelona’s offer for Raphinha, then Arsenal could have a chance of signing the winger.

What Arsenal will need to do is increase their offer for the Brazilian and then take it from there.

The Gunners are wiling to pay £35 million, but they need at least £20 million more to get Leeds to start talking over a potential deal.

The big question is whether Arsenal will do that.
