Rangers are on the verge of winning the Scottish Premiership with Gerrard at the helm

Steven Gerrard may have been forced to watch the second half of his side’s most recent match from the stand, but he left the Tony Macaroni Arena a happy man.
Alfredo Morelos’ late winner against Livingston took Rangers to within four points of their first top-flight title since 2011, and with his team also preparing for a Europa League last-16 tie Gerrard is enjoying the best spell of his managerial career.
It’s no surprise, then, that he’s been tipped for a job in England’s Premier League. Specifically, Gerrard’s name continues to be mentioned in connection with Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp has given no indication that he plans to leave the club any time soon, but Anfield icon Gerrard is expected to be a candidate when the German eventually leaves.
Rangers legend Barry Ferguson believes the man who captained Liverpool to Champions League glory in 2005 will eventually find himself in the Anfield dugout, but not for some time yet.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, Ferguson said: “In terms of Steven Gerrard I think he knows he needs to start winning trophies.
“He’s very close now but I think he is two or three years away from getting what job we all know he wants in the end. It is his club, it means so much to him.

“I think he is two or three years way from getting that sort of job.
“He knows himself as a manager you need to win trophies and be successful, this is the first year that it looks like he is going to be successful.
“The first couple of years was hard for him in terms of trophy-lessness but in time I do believe he will be a top manager and in time I do believe he will be a Liverpool manager.
“But I can’t believe that people are calling for Klopp to be sacked.”
