United States men’s national team star Christian Pulisic may have an important decision to make during the 2026 World Cup.

Pulisic started in the USA’s 4-1 group-stage victory over Paraguay almost a fortnight ago, assisting one of Folarin Balogun’s two goals.

However, Mauricio Pochettino decided to rest him for their second game against Australia due to a calf injury.

Pulisic is expected to be available to face Turkey on Thursday, and he will be key to the USA’s chances in the knockout rounds.

Therefore, American supporters will hope that the AC Milan winger is not distracted by uncertainty over his club future.

Reports in Italy have heavily linked Pulisic with a lucrative move to the MLS during the summer transfer window.

Christian Pulisic attracts serious MLS interest during the 2026 World Cup

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that Christian Pulisic is wanted by MLS club New York City.

Pulisic’s representatives had been in contract negotiations with AC Milan, with a four-year deal worth €5 million ($5.7m) per season on the table.

The winger’s existing deal only runs until the summer of 2027, although the club have an option to extend it by another year.

Not only have contract negotiations stalled recently, but Pulisic has considered demanding more than Rafael Leao’s €7m ($8m) per season.

The USMNT star will now have even more to think about, as he has just been offered a “very attractive” deal from New York City.

How far can the USA realistically go in this tournament? 🏆

The MLS club have reportedly proposed a contract worth $10m per year, which would make him one of the highest-earning players in the league.

It remains to be seen whether Pulisic will receive any similar offers from European clubs, where he would prefer to stay.

Even though the likes of Lionel Messi have raised the profile of the MLS, it is still not considered one of the world’s best leagues.

It is safe to say that Pulisic has a huge dilemma to consider over the coming weeks, although he must also stay focused on the World Cup.

Even if the USMNT made it to the final next month, Pulisic would have several weeks before the European or MLS transfer window closes.
