Tottenham face competition from Manchester United, West Ham United and Jose Mourinho’s Roma in the race to sign Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi – but they could have a trump card, and it involves goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.
Frattesi, 23, has enjoyed a wonderful 12 months with Sassuolo. After three loan spells, he was finally given a chance for Sassuolo last season and he took it. He played 38 times, having a hand in eight goals. This term, he has four goals.
His form has even seen him earn a call-up under Roberto Mancini for the Italy side, winning four caps. Sassuolo News claim that Tottenham watched him score against Inter Milan this month. FC Inter News say West Ham are also keen.
GDS say Erik ten Hag is an admirer while a report from CalcioMercato this week says Roma and Juventus are keen. A fee of £30million will prize him out of Sassuolo. West Ham have one of his old teammates, in Gianluca Scamacca.
But Tottenham may find a trump card of their own, in the form of his agent. TransferMarkt report that he is looked after by the same agent that has Gollini as a client. Spurs have recent activity with the agency, with Gollini on loan last term.

Tottenham have Frattesi trump card and it involved Gollini
What a signing Frattesi would be, for any of the clubs involved. Already a player of excellent quality, he is quickly making it known in Italian football that he is going to be one of his country’s regular midfielders – for years to come.
Energetic, offering quality in both boxes, able to score and create goals but willing to put a tackle in, too. Frattesi is a top, top player. Antonio Conte likes his midfielders to have a defensive mindset, but to be good in transition.
If Conte plays his 3-5-2 system with Yves Bissouma or Oliver Skipp sitting, then the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are expected to contribute to attack. Hojbjerg scored against Everton. The ideal Frattesi position.
