Tottenham Hotspur loanee Harry Winks, who is currently on loan at Sampdoria has admitted that his future at his boyhood club is up in the air.

Winks, who joined the Serie A side on a temporary basis has largely performed well despite being recently slated for his display against Juventus.

Considering Harry Winks is Tottenham through and through, coming from the academy setup, one would have expected some clarity about his future.

But that does not seem to be the case with Winks, whose current contract set to expire in 2024.

Winks admits Tottenham future is uncertain despite impressive Sampdoria loan

With the England international making positive headlines over in Italy, with even Jamie O’Hara singing his praises, one would expect the club to either focus on prioritizing a sale or bringing him back.

But while speaking to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Harry Winks has said that not a single soul at Tottenham has even got in touch with him during his time at Sampdoria about his future.

“I have a loan contract until June. I’m satisfied with this experience. I don’t know what my future will be after June and I don’t even think about it now. I’m only looking at the next match, but I was pleased to have made this choice last year, I’m proud of it.”

“No one from Tottenham has contacted me, not even the manager. I was and remain totally focused on Sampdoria.”

Time for Tottenham to let him go

While Harry Winks remains a controller-type profile of midfielder, once even compared to Paul Scholes via All Football that Tottenham perhaps lack, he has flattered to deceive over the years, which is why his future should be resolved by letting him join either Sampdoria or any suitor.

The 27-year-old’s return would only increase the list of players that should be deemed as deadwood if the club aim to bridge the gap between themselves and the top sides in the division.

However, considering the player is an academy graduate, it would be right to be completely honest about where he stands rather than making him wait.
