Brad Friedel says he would be ‘really surprised’ if Harry Kane secured a transfer from Tottenham Hotspur to Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea or Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United.
The England captain is one of the transfer stories of the summer, with Tottenham’s opening Premier League game against Brentford around the corner, yet Harry Kane’s future is non the clearer.
If he doesn’t secure that bag with Bayern Munich, then he will be a free transfer in 2024, but Friedel, who watched Kane come through during his younger days, can’t see him going to Chelsea, Manchester City or Manchester United, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports (07/08/23 at 7:10 pm).
It seems as though the English sides aren’t even bothering to waste their time or breath on Kane this summer because a certain Daniel Levy will just smack the door on them.
But that doesn’t mean that any of those clubs still won’t get the £200k-a-week star (Spotrac).
A reunion with Mauricio Pochettino perhaps? That would cause a serious stir. How about Manchester United? Yes, they have signed Rasmus Højlund, but that proven goalscorer is needed.

“I would be really surprised if Harry Kane, on a free transfer, signed for a Manchester United or Manchester City, in England,” said Friedel.
“Chelsea, especially, even though Mauricio Pochettino is one of the best managers out there. He is a really good human being. I know him and Harry Kane have a great relationship.
“But Harry is also a really good guy. He will know what it means to the Tottenham supporters if he went to another Premier League club.
“So, for me, that kind of puts it into the Inter, AC Milan, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid’s and looking over at those clubs, so where does Harry want to be? I think Tottenham.”

Kane to Chelsea would rock the boat
Chelsea fans would jump with joy if they get the 30-year-old next summer, but the same won’t be the case with Spurs fans – Paul Merson shared his thoughts.
It’s not exactly Sol Campbell to Arsenal mark 2, but going to another one of Tottenham’s London rivals would seriously rock the boat.
Not only that, the thought of Spurs’ all-time leading goalscorer lifting and winning a trophy with Pochettino at Chelsea is one of the worst nightmares for those at Hotspur Way.
