Arsenal fans are eagerly awaiting for the new Premier League season to kick off, so they can charge for the title again.

Mikel Arteta and his players are currently out in the USA for their pre-season tour ahead of their opener against Wolves on August 17.

Arsenal beat Manchester United in a pre-season friendly on Sunday, with several top performers and Kai Havertz playing in midfield.

You feel that if Arsenal want to pip Manchester City to the Premier League title, they need to boost their bench strength because that’s the big difference between Pep Guardiola’s side.

That could be about to happen as fans get excited about a new signing coming through the doors and their first big capture of the summer.

You could argue that many thought the Gunners would improve their forward line or midfield before anything else.

The reason is that Arsenal had the best defence in the Premier League last season and now they are about to strengthen their backline even further.

Sources have told HITC that Riccardo Calafiori is closing in on a transfer to Arsenal after an agreement was reached – he starred for Bologna last season

Tottenham-supporting pundit Darren Ambrose spoke about Arteta ‘keeping his cards close to his chest’ and how he is impressed by Calafiori’s incoming arrival, as he told talkSPORT (27/07/24 at 3:30 pm).

The former midfielder labelled Calafiori as an ‘outstanding’ player, as he prepares to compete with the likes of Jurrien Timber for starting spots.

Arsenal to sign Riccardo Calafiori

“Mikel Arteta, you know what he is like, he is keeping his cards close to his chest,” said Ambrose.

“There is talk about Riccardo Calafiori, who by the way, will be an outstanding signing from Bologna. It looks like he is going to come in. There is Jurrien Timber, as well.”

What next for Arsenal after Riccardo Calafiori?

The talk of Arsenal needing a number nine continues, even if fans were pleased with how Havertz performed last season.

Arsenal have been told to sign Ivan Toney – the Brentford hitman has 12 months left on his contract.

Sources have told HITC Arsenal’s transfer stance on Toney, with the ice-cool striker keen to take that next step up in his career.

You feel many would think that would be the icing on the cake if that type of transfer enters the building at the Emirates.
