Tottenham Hotspur fans are hoping to see new signings arrive this summer but will also have one eye on international tournaments this summer.

Ange Postecoglou will certainly hope to take Tottenham Hotspur forward next season after a fifth-place finish in his debut campaign.

The Australian will have seen some encouraging signs last term but a big summer awaits for Tottenham.

Tottenham need smart recruitment and a little bit of luck in terms of key players coming back from international tournaments unscathed.

Guglielmo Vicario, Radu Dragusin, Micky van de Ven and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg are all at Euro 2024 and all four have reached the knockout stages.

Over in Copa America, Tottenham have Rodrigo Bentancur turning out for Uruguay and two players gunning for more glory with Argentina.

Argentinian FA praise Cristian Romero

Cristian Romero won the World Cup with Argentina in 2022 but midfielder Giovani Lo Celso missed out through injury.

Lo Celso did win Copa America in 2021 though, so the pair are chasing their second titles with Argentina.

Romero has started both games at Copa America this summer, helping Argentina beat Canada and Chile without conceding a goal.

Lo Celso came off the bench in both games too, so the Spurs duo are going well with Argentina right now.

All eyes are on Lionel Messi, as they have been for the last 20 years, but Romero is really emerging as one of Argentina’s top stars.

Tottenham fans know just how good Romero can be at his best.

The centre back may be a divisive figure outside of North London due to his aggressive style but he is certainly an impressive defender.

Romero was impressive against Chile earlier this week and the Argentinian FA have now joined in.

An article has appeared on the official website of the Argentinian FA, in which they wax lyrical about Romero.

They noted that Romero has earned so much praise ever since his Argentinian debut – and it’s all deserved.

The article raves about Romero’s pace, aerial ability and willingness to fight, believing that he brings a sense of calm to his teammates.

“Since his debut with the light blue and white shirt, on June 3, 2021 in the 1-1 draw against Chile in the South American Qualifiers heading to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Cuti has sparked praise and praise,” they wrote.

“His game never ceases to surprise. The speed of him. Safety. The optimal efficiency of him in the hand to hand. The aerial game. His presence and power to transmit serenity and invulnerability to all of his companions,” they added.

That is quite remarkable praise, especially given that it comes from the Argentinian FA rather than a newspaper or a fan.

Romero is fast becoming a hero for Argentina and Tottenham fans will just be hoping to see him back in North London fit and firing for the new Premier League campaign.
