Dejan Kulusevski has told Tottenham’s official website that he wants to be “much, much better” next season – despite his incredible start to life at Spurs. The Swedish wonderkid ended the campaign off in style, on Sunday.
Kulusevski, 22, joined Spurs from Juventus on a loan-to-buy deal in January. There have been conflicting reports as to whether Spurs will sanction a permanent move this summer, or at the end of the loan in June 2023.
Starting 14 of his 18 Premier League appearances for Tottenham during the second half of the campaign, Kulusevski had a hand in a huge 13 goals. Scoring five including two at Norwich on Sunday, he also created eight.
His arrival, along with the form of Rodrigo Bentancur after his January arrival, have given Spurs a lift – crucial to qualifying for the Champions League. But Kulusevski feels there is a lot more he is capable of producing.
“I will rest now for some days and then I want to come back much, much better next season, because I believe this team can do much better. There is no ceiling for us. So that’s what we have to do,” Kulusevski told Spurs’ site.
Kulusevski wants better at Tottenham: Already fantastic
Kulusevski has solved the long-standing lack of a permanent right winger at Spurs. Lucas Mours played, Steven Bergwijn played, even the likes of Gio Lo Celso, Gareth Bale or Dele Alli came in on the right. Kulusevski has solved it.
He is now the go-to choice. His work rate, physicality, positional sense and end product make him the ideal right winger for an Antonio Conte side. At 22, he is the face of the new Tottenham that can grow under the Italian.
If Kulusevski improves, then he will genuinely be at an elite level. Another season where he produces a goal involvement every two games and Spurs fans will love him even more. He already has his own song.
