Tottenham Hotspur could be about to make a monumental squad upgrade if they pull off a £65 million deal this summer.

Across the Premier League, Tottenham Hotspur have done some of the best business of the summer as the Lilywhites look to break back into Europe’s elite club competition.

One of the signings of the summer could well be Spurs’ decision to sign Leeds United’s Archie Gray with the teenager already making a key impact for the club.

As well as this, Lucas Bergvall has also made a promising start, and the North London club isn’t done there this summer with a new striker a key priority.

Dominic Solanke represents a big upgrade on Richarlison

HITC has reported that Tottenham have earmarked Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke as their preferred striker target.

We had previously reported that Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez was the top target for the Lilywhites this summer but it now appears the Englishman is the top target for Ange Postecoglou.

The 26-year-old striker has a £65million release clause in his contract which is only accessible to the traditional ‘Big Six’ Premier League clubs.

Tottenham would prefer payments to be staggered over multiple windows rather than paying in one lump sum so it seems a deal is moving in the right direction.

If a deal is completed, this could well spell trouble for Richarlison with HITC reporting that Spurs would be open to selling the Brazilian.

Richarlison’s comments to the media in South America are understood to have not changed the club’s mind but a sale of the Brazilian is not needed for Spurs to sign Solanke.

Whilst Solanke would cost £65 million, the Englishman could prove to be a very astute signing and a big upgrade on Richarlison.

Solanke offers Tottenham something different

Richarlison’s strengths and weaknesses are obvious. Whilst the Brazilian is brilliant in front of goal, his play away from goal certainly leaves much to be desired.

Gabby Agbonlahor has previously been critical of Richarlison’s ability on the ball and it is certainly not one of the Brazilian’s strengths.

As for Solanke, whilst the Englishman hit 19 Premier League goals for the Cherries last season his ability on the ball and finding his teammates is underrated.

Whilst Ivan Toney has been praised for his ability on the ball, Solanke is just as good as the Brentford striker and Spurs would be getting one of the deals of the summer if they pull it off.

The signing of the Englishman would lead to question marks arising over Richarlison’s future but a striker of Solanke’s calibre is needed, desperately.
