Tottenham want Christian Eriksen and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has admitted that Antonio Conte has been asking about the Danish playmaker.

Tottenham are looking to add new faces for Conte’s squad after securing qualification for the Champions League.

Two free agents have now joined Tottenham with goalkeeper Fraser Forster and wide man Ivan Perisic both arriving.

It could be three free agents soon though with Tottenham also interested in signing Brentford star Eriksen this summer.

Tottenham want Christian Eriksen

It has been a quite remarkable return to action for Eriksen.

Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020 last summer and faced a battle for his life, never mind his playing career.

The Dane has come back brilliantly though and joined Brentford on a six-month deal back in January.

Eriksen was released by Inter Milan due to not being allowed to play in Italy whilst being fitted with an ICD.

Brentford were happy to add Eriksen to their Danish contingent and what a move that has proven to be for Thomas Frank.

Eriksen has been at his creative best, with Jamie Redknapp branding him ‘exceptional’ and ‘a magician’ for his displays at Brentford.

The problem for Brentford is that Eriksen is out of contract this summer and can leave for nothing.

Tottenham are reportedly keen on bringing Eriksen back to the club having allowed him to leave for Inter Milan back in January 2020.

Tottenham boss Conte was in charge of Inter when they signed Eriksen and a reunion makes sense.

Eriksen’s Denmark teammate and current Tottenham ace Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has now commented on the rumours.

Speaking to Bold and as translated by The Express, Hojbjerg admitted that boss Conte has been asking about Eriksen of late.

Hojbjerg believes that Eriksen could make a real impact for Tottenham but is leaving the decision up to Eriksen as he considers plenty of options.

“Everyone knows that Christian is master of his own future,” said Hojbjerg. “He needs to have peace of mind with the family, to figure out what the next step is for him and I am sure he will make the best possible choice for himself.”

“Yes, [Conte] has asked me how he is. When we came back after being together last, he asked me how he was doing. Of course, I can [see him coming back to Tottenham]. Then there is the question of whether he himself can, but of course, I can see that Christian can contribute something to that team.”

“It could be fun for all parties, but I do not think it is opportunities he lacks, and then it’s just what is the right opportunity and what he himself feels for. Many of my teammates in the club talk about him occasionally. Some of them might even talk to him once in a while. He made a fantastic impression there as a player and as a person, and it was noticed by many,” he added.
