Aston Villa, Derby County, Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers would all do well to consider the Leicester City winger, currently on loan at Ipswich.

It has been a miserable old season so far for Ipswich Town fans. After failing to invest decent money into the side during both the summer and January, Mick McCarthy’s side have slipped to 17th in the table after a 3-0 hammering from Derby County.

Ipswich fans have not had much to smile about, but one thing that has kept Town fans entertained is the performances of Leicester City loanee Tom Lawrence. The left winger, who can also play as a central striker, has dazzled Town fans with his skill and pace, scoring six goals.

With his long-term future at Premier League champions Leicester City uncertain, due to being behind the pecking order of Riyad Mahrez, Marc Albrighton and Ahmed Musa, Championship clubs are likely to be keeping an eye on the 23-year-old, as they start to draw up lists for potential summer targets.

A player of versatility, there are a number of clubs Lawrence could suit, with many teams relying on goal-scoring wingers in today’s modern game.

Aston Villa may well have a winger at the top of their shopping list in the summer.

Steve Bruce’s 4-2-3-1 formation has not worked too well this season, as the Villans have struggled to offer much attacking intent down the left-hand side. Lawrence could certainly tick this box and supply an added goal threat to an already lethal looking front-line.

Derby County could also be in need of a new left-sided player in the summer. Many Rams fans were surprised to see Steve McClaren avoid recruiting a winger in the recent window, due to the differing form of Johnny Russell and Abdoul Camara.

Needing more goals from the wide areas, could Lawrence be a top target for Derby?

Leeds United are another side who arguably could do with another injection of attacking verve from the wide areas. This January, Leeds signed Modou Barrow and Alfonso Pedraza on loan, but with the long-term futures of Barrow and Hadi Sacko unclear, Garry Monk may well be in need of a new winger in the summer.

With Leeds pushing for promotion, this move would have been a smart one to do in January, should Leicester have recalled the winger from Ipswich.

Wolverhampton Wanderers are also likely to be in need of a left-sided player in the summer.

The loan deal for Andreas Weimann, who has joined Wolves from Derby County, is set to expire at the end of the season, and Lawrence could be an excellent like-for-like switch. With Wolves wanting to push for promotion next season, Lawrence could certainly be a top choice.
