Arsenal parted ways with Emile Smith Rowe this week and another first-team star has been told to follow him out the exit door.

The Gunners are gearing up for another Premier League title charge under Mikel Arteta after coming so close in successive seasons.

The Spaniard has added two new signings to his squad already in the shape of David Raya and Riccardo Calafiori, and Arsenal are still working behind the scenes to bring in another midfielder.

HITC revealed that Arsenal are closing in on a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino.

With Merino on his way to The Emirates, Arsenal have made space for the Spaniard by selling Emile Smith Rowe to Fulham in a £34million deal.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has now urged another first-team star to follow Smith Rowe out the club this summer.

Ray Parlour urges £30m Arsenal star to leave

Via The Mirror, Parlour has urged Aaron Ramsdale to leave the club in pursuit of regular first-team football.

“It’s going to be difficult for Aaron because he’s in that England squad and really wants to get an opportunity,” Parlour said.

“He wants to play football, he’s had that taste of playing week in, week out for Arsenal. I think it’s at that time where you’ve got to make big decisions as a manager.

“The [Raya] deal was done, and it’s not a bad deal really, £25m for a goalkeeper. But Aaron has now got to make a big decision about what he does, whether he sticks around and waits for his opportunity again or whether he says, ‘Look, my time’s up at Arsenal, but I’m gonna prove people wrong, prove Arteta wrong and start playing No1 for England.’

“So that’s all he can do really – I think he will move on because his appetite is to play every week.”

Ramsdale, who signed for Arsenal in a £30million deal from Sheffield United, could be loaned out this summer.

HITC understands that Newcastle showed an interest in Ramsdale earlier this summer while Southampton are also keen.
