The former Everton man is now plying his trade with Melbourne City.

Everton legend Tim Cahill sat down for an exclusive interview with Sky Sports on their Premier League World show, broadcast on February 2nd, and explained what he loved most about his time at Goodison Park.

Why didn’t Everton make a move for Champions League winner in January?

The Australia international spent eight years with the Toffees, and scored 68 goals in 278 appearances for the club – an extremely impressive ratio for a midfield player.

Unfortunately for Cahill, his service at the club was not rewarded with a trophy – something that he would have more than deserved for the commitment he showed during his time with the Blues.

And the 37-year-old spoke with Sky Sports for an in-depth interview for their Premier League World show, and reminisced about his time on Merseyside, highlighting two games during the season which stood out for him most:

“What I loved about the city was for those two games that we played each other during the season, everything would stop. The affect it would have on families that are red and blue…it’s crazy. It’s emotional, it’s such a volatile environment to be in, and I loved it. The only way you can upset a crowd, especially at Anfield, is by scoring. It’s the best feeling ever. Anfield, Goodison Park, the derbies, it’s all about fire.”

The Merseyside derbies are renowned for the fierce intensity that both teams bring to the games, and no one epitomised that spirit more than the Australian.
