Newcastle United are set for an important summer transfer window but the sale of one forward would be the right decision this summer.
Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United didn’t quite have as good a season in the Premier League as they did in the 2022/23 campaign where they finished fourth.
The Magpies missed out on European Football altogether after Manchester United beat Manchester City 2-1 in the FA Cup final and knocked Newcastle out of the Conference League for the upcoming season in the process.
Newcastle are set to be busy this summer as they seek attacking options with HITC understanding they hold an interest in Morgan Gibbs-White and Everton striker Dominic Calvert Lewin.

Wilson proven to be a key figure under Howe
As the club look to bolster their attacking options, the future of English forward Callum Wilson has been called into question.
Indeed, sources have told HITC that there is interest in the former Bournemouth striker from the Saudi Pro League as well as teams in the Premier League, the same can be said for Paraguayan winger Miguel Almiron.
Back in 2020, under Steve Bruce, Newcastle completed the signing of Wilson and in a season of wretched displays, the English forward shone for the club.
Since the takeover of Newcastle in 2021, and the appointment of Howe as manager, Wilson has proven to be one of the most reliable players for the Geordie side.
Since Howe’s appointment at St James’ Park, Wilson has netted 37 Premier League goals including 18 during the 2022/23 campaign.
Howe always seemed to trust Wilson in the big games. Following Newcastle’s 4-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion towards the end of the 2022/23 campaign, Howe was keen to praise the forward.
“He’s been incredible and I feel that his performance was right up there with one of the best I’ve seen him play, purely from a tactical perspective,” Howe told Sky Sports.
“He has to lead the press and the one we bounce off initially. He kept going right until the end and his goalscoring record is excellent.”
Time is right for Wilson to move on
Despite the goalscoring exploits and the ‘incredible’ impact he has made at St James’ Park, this summer may represent the final time Newcastle could get a decent fee for the forward.
The injury issues that Wilson has had recently has been debilitating for the club as one of their most reliable players has not been able to be called upon and has become unreliable.
With Alexander Isak performing superbly as the number one striker, the sale of Wilson makes sense and the club could still receive a decent fee for the Englishman.
