Arsenal academy product Levi Laing, who left the club in 2021 to join West Ham United made his first-team debut for the side in their 4-0 rout of AEK Larnaka in the Europa League.

The 19-year-old joined the famed Hale End Academy as just a child left his boyhood club to sign for David Moyes’ side at 18 years of age.

A centre-back by trade, who is also capable of operating at both right-back and in defensive midfield, former Arsenal starlet made his debut for West Ham United in the first-team on Thursday night.

How did ex-Arsenal wonderkid Levi Laing do on debut for West Ham?

Well, first of all, it is imperative to know just how highly-rated the teenage sensation really is.

According to Football Fan Cast, the Irons had signed the ‘next Rio Ferdinand’ by securing the services of the versatile Englishman.

Clearly, former Arsenal sensation Levi Laing is one of the most talented young defenders in English football and David Moyes finally gave him the chance to showcase his talent in the senior team, as he replaced Kurt Zouma in the 68th minute for West Ham.

In a short cameo off the bench, the prodigy looked composed on the ball and went about his business quietly as his side were cruising 4-0 after his introduction.

Arsenal have too much talent to be overly concerned

Sure, Levi Laing could go on to become a superstar one, making Arsenal regret their decision to let him sign for West Ham.

But when one takes a peek at the talent that could come up from the ranks at the club, it is easy to empathise with how difficult it is to keep every player happy.

Despite players like Amario Cozier-Duberry, Lino Sousa, Salah-Eddine Oulad M’Hand and Kaleel Green coming through, regardless of them operating in different positions to the teenage talent showcases that the potential in their academy is stacked to the brim.
