West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen has been speaking about those who inspire him in the Premier League, where Liverpool star Mohamed Salah was mentioned.

What’s the story?

Well, the West Ham No.20 revealed that he thinks the Egypt international is the “best of the best” when it comes to wingers in the Premier League.

Bowen said: “There’s a lot of left-footed players all around the world like you said, but in the Premier League I look at Mo Salah and see what he’s done in the past six years or however long he’s been here. The goals that he’s scored and the way that he plays, I’d say he’s the best of the best in that position.”

The £22m man isn’t wrong.

Few players in Europe have matched the levels of Salah since he joined Liverpool in a £34m deal from Roma in 2017.

The 30-year-old remarkably scored 44 goals in his debut season at Anfield, and has netted 159 goals in 258 appearances for the Reds in total.

When it comes to right-sided forwards, there isn’t anyone better than Salah.

Interestingly, Bowen could soon become teammates with his idol, or even replace him on Merseyside.

Liverpool could raid West Ham

Towards the end of the 2021/22 campaign, there was a lot of interest in Bowen coming from Liverpool.

It was even said that the Hammers were concerned about a summer bid from Jürgen Klopp.

After all, the German has previously called Bowen an “unbelievable” footballer, so there is clearly admiration from the 55-year-old.

However – in our view at least – Liverpool would never sign the England international to play with Salah, but instead to replace him if he ever departed Anfield.

Jamie Carragher seems to think the pair would get in the way of each other at Liverpool, and we agree.

Bowen – like Salah – tends to cut inside from the right flank on his stronger left foot, while he can often be found in the centre as well in a bid to sniff out some goals. There are many similarities between him and the Egyptian.

Therefore, we can’t see a move ever materialising unless Salah were to either leave Liverpool, or suffer a serious injury.
