Jamie Carragher has said on Sky Sports Premier League (6:38pm, March 5, 2022) that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool may not be able to sign West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen due to Mohamed Salah.

The former Liverpool star has noted that despite links with Bowen, the Reds will not find it easy to bring the 25-year-old attacker to Anfield because he plays in a similar position to Salah.

Carragher made the comments during the Premier League game between Liverpool and West Ham at Anfield on Saturday evening.

The Englishman was on co-commentary duty for the match on Sky Sports.

The Times reported in January 2022 that West Ham are concerned that Liverpool will make a bid for Bowen in the summer transfer widow..

Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing the 25-year-old – who can play as a winger, midfielder or forward – in the summer transfer window.

Carragher said about Bowen: “His goals and assists, and also the positions that he takes up.

“He plays very narrow as Liverpool’s wide players do, but I just think it is always difficult for Liverpool to buy anyone in that position when there’s Mo Salah, not just his quality but he very rarely misses games.”

Could Jarrod Bowen join Liverpool from West Ham?

In our view, Bowen could join Liverpool from West Ham in the summer transfer window.

Of course, there are a number of factors affecting that.

The Hammers could finish in the Premier League top four and may not be willing to sell the 25-year-old attacker.

Liverpool themselves may not be willing to spend the transfer fee that the Hammers could demand.

However, a move to Liverpool would appeal to every player.

Just look at Luis Diaz.

The Colombia international winger moved from FC Porto and has hit the ground running.

Yes, Salah is a world-class player, but Bowen would know that playing for Liverpool is very prestigious and would be a step-up for him.
