Rangers are 18 points clear thanks to Ross County’s shock win

It wasn’t just Ross County fans who were delighted with their side’s latest victory.
When Jordan White headed home after 71 minutes against Celtic on Sunday, he ensured that Rangers remained 18 points ahead of their rivals with just eight Premiership games to play.
That means they’re on course to win the league at Celtic Park on March 21, and one Ibrox star was quick to show his appreciation.
Scott Arfield began his career at Falkirk, and his manager was John Hughes.

The Canada international went on to Huddersfield and Burnley before joining Rangers in 2018, but has remained in contact with his former boss.
In the wake of Sunday night’s 1-0 win for the Staggies, Arfield contacted Hughes to express his gratitude.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, Hughes said: “He text me last night, ‘Thanks Gaffer. Thanks for the help out’.
“Absolutely delighted.”

Earlier on Sunday Rangers had beaten Dundee United 4-1 at Ibrox, with Arfield coming off the bench in a satisfying afternoon for Steven Gerrard.
Speaking after the game, Gerrard was quoted by Record Sport as saying: “I can see the focus, I can see the determination. I thought when we were 4-0 up today we could have been better in terms of our standards to see the game out better.
“But that is me being fussy and the way I am and I will continue to try and keep the players on their toes.

“The big reminder today is that it is another positive result, another big step, but we have still got work to do.”
Next up for Gerrard’s side is the second leg of their Europa League round of 32 tie against Royal Antwerp. After last week’s 4-3 win in Belgium, Rangers are favourites to progress on Thursday night at Ibrox.
