The Athletic have reported that some at Tottenham Hotspur think that Tanguy Ndombele sees Spurs as a stepping stone to Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain.

In an extensive report analysing why it is going so wrong for Ndombele at Tottenham, The Athletic have given an insight into how some at the North London club see the France international midfielder.

“But some at Spurs feel he has been his own worst enemy, never really going the extra mile or giving the impression he’s particularly bothered about making the best of himself,” states the report in The Athletic.

“No one doubts his talent but they see him as lacking the hunger and drive that defines truly elite players.

“Some have also held a suspicion that he viewed Spurs as a stepping stone to joining a club like Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain.”

Tanguy Ndombele long way from Real Madrid or PSG

The Athletic reported earlier this month that Ndombele wants to leave Tottenham, and that the North London club themselves want to offload the 25-year-old France international midfielder.

In our opinion, neither Real Madrid nor PSG will come for the Frenchman anytime soon.

The former Lyon star has not been a success at Tottenham, and we do not think that Madrid or PSG will be wiling to pay his £200,000-a-week wages.

Madrid are doing extremely well in La Liga at the moment, while PSG look set to win the Ligue 1 title.

Ndombele may have viewed Tottenham as a stepping stone when he joined them from Lyon, but he is not an ‘elite’ player now.

In our opinion, Ndombele will have to step up his game to another level if he is to make a move to Madrid or PSG.
