A 4.2 magnitude earthquake was reported near San Ramon, California early Monday morning, according to United States Geological Survey data.
The quake followed an earlier 3.9 tremor and was part of a wider swarm of seismic activity in the East Bay region.
Several smaller aftershocks were also recorded before 7 a.m., with residents across the Bay Area reporting that they felt the shaking.

Super Bowl LX preparations continue despite earthquake
Super Bowl LX is scheduled to take place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara later this week, the home of the San Francisco 49ers.
Teams, media members, and league officials have already begun arriving, with official Super Bowl events starting on Monday.
There is no word yet about the NFL taking precautions over the recent seismic activity and whatever damage it may have caused.
Despite the earthquake, there have been no reports of damage or injuries, and preparations for the game remain on schedule.
