Newcastle gem Bruno Guimaraes has taken to Twitter to angrily fire back at a tweet from a Lyon fan account, who accused him of asking to leave in 2020.

What’s the story?

Well, the Lyon fan account accused Bruno Guimaraes of asking to leave Lyon in the summer of 2020, 18 months before he sealed a £40m move to Newcastle.

The claim clearly left the Brazilian livid, as he replied: “When did I ask to leave? I didn’t even ask! Stop being stupid, I was at the club for just three months! I played a very good match against Juventus and then they want to know the price! That’s football! I don’t even know what you think!”

However, the 24-year-old – who Alan Shearer has recently praised – wasn’t done there, as he continued to plead his innocence against the accusation of him trying to get out of Lyon.

He added: “The most important thing for me is since I arrived at the club I always wet my jersey and give my best to succeed at OL! Stop creating things about me and trying to make me a bad person for the club because that’s not what’s happening!”

As you can see, the South American is clearly a passionate footballer, who gives his all for the fans and takes great offence to having his honour questioned.

Bruno Guimaraes is evidently proud of his loyalty, and this should serve as a warning to English outlets who try to aim similar accusations at him.

Bruno Guimaraes’ loyalty could soon be tested at Newcastle

It goes without saying that the Rio de Janeiro-born maestro is loving life at Newcastle, after his January arrival on Tyneside.

Bruno Guimaraes has scored four goals in 13 Premier League starts, while also providing one assist, as he takes to life in England like a duck to water.

However, according to AS, Real Madrid are plotting a move for his signature, and few players are able to resist the temptation of Los Blancos.

The Santiago Bernabeu is the pinnacle of world football, and especially for South American players such as Ronaldo and Robert Carlos, it is a dream to play there.

As a result, Newcastle could find themselves struggling to keep their new hero, so soon into his career at St James’ Park.

Hopefully, that doesn’t happen, as it would represent a huge setback for Amanda Staveley in her and Mehrdad Ghodoussi’s project at Newcastle.

Keep an eye on this situation, as we would be very surprised to see Bruno Guimaraes turn down a move to Real Madrid.
