If a report from Spanish news outlet AS is true, then Amanda Staveley could soon suffer a major setback in her project at Newcastle.

What’s the story?

Well, according to AS, Real Madrid are interested in signing Bruno Guimaraes.

The Spanish giants are planning to revamp their ageing midfield, which is currently reliant on the 36-year-old Luka Modric, the 32-year-old Toni Kroos and the 30-year-old Casemiro.

Carlo Ancelotti has already signed Eduardo Camavinga for the future, while Monaco gem Aurélien Tchouaméni is also being targeted.

In addition to him, Real Madrid have also set their sights on the Toon Army’s new hero, Bruno Guimaraes.

Los Blancos have been impressed by the Brazilian’s quick adaption to the Premier League, and are targeting a move for him after the 2022 World Cup in November.

Since his £40m arrival from Lyon in January, Bruno Guimaraes has scored three goals in 12 Premier League appearances, while also providing one assist.

Newcastle in serious danger of losing Bruno Guimaraes

We’re fully aware of how much Bruno Guimaraes is enjoying his time on Tyneside, and he obviously signed up to be part of a long-term project.

However, this is Real Madrid we’re talking about, the pinnacle of football for almost every player on the planet.

Especially for South American players, the lure of Real Madrid – and also Barcelona – has been hard to ignore in the past, as the likes of Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Philippe Coutinho, Neymar and Vinicius have signed up.

At the age of 24, Bruno Guimaraes has his best years ahead of him, and we believe he will find it very tough to reject the opportunity to spend them at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Keep an eye on this saga, as Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi could soon lose their first marquee signing in the infancy of their project.
