Lucas Bergvall’s Djurgardens team-mate feels the Swedish wonderkid can ‘become an incredibly good player’ with Tottenham Hotspur winning the race to bring the £8.5 million midfielder to the Premier League.
You can most certainly judge the potential of some of Spurs’ most recent signings on the quality of the teams who went into battle with Ange Postecoglou and co for their signature.
Radu Dragusin, the £26 million acquisition from Genoa, was a target for Bayern Munich, Napoli and AC Milan. Luka Vuskovic was admired by Manchester City. The largely-supreme performances of Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario, meanwhile, go some way to explaining why some of Italy’s A-list clubs were left disappointed by their own moves to North London.
Tottenham Hotspur also brought in one of the most coveted talents in Scandinavian football, snatching Lucas Bergvall just days after Barcelona went public with their admiration for the 18-year-old.
Tottenham Hotspur beat Barcelona to Lucas Bergvall

“He has what it takes to become an incredibly good player,” explains Albin Ekdal, who only joined Djurgardens in December but was immediately taken aback by Bergvall’s obvious potential (Aftonbladet).
“Then, it’s up to him how he manages (his career).
“(At Tottenham) he will come to a level and an environment that is very demanding. But I think he has what it takes to become a real top player.”
Another Spurs coup
Bergvall only turned 18 this month but has two caps for the senior Sweden national team already. He will join Tottenham in the summer.
Compatriot and fellow teenager Roony Bardghji could be the next Scandinavian starlet to arrive. Spurs are showing an interest in the £20 million-rated Copenhagen wonderkid, HITC Football understands. Bardghji himself appeared to open the door when quizzed about the prospect of following in the footsteps of Bergvall and Dejan Kulusevski too.
“It’s fun to think about,” the whizzkid winger tells SportBladet. “You never know, it could happen. Hard to say now.”
