Tottenham Hotspur‘s defence is rather poor, isn’t it?

Yes, Antonio Conte’s side – who lost 2-0 at home to Aston Villa this week – are in the hunt for Champions League qualification this season.

But by the same token, they’ve shipped 25 Premier League goals.

And for context, that’s one more than a 16th-placed Everton outfit who conceded four to Brighton at Goodison Park last night.

Indeed, Tottenham’s defence needs a lot of work, but if you’re Cameron Carter-Vickers then you might wonder what could’ve been.

And on Monday, Carter-Vickers was sensational as the Hoops drew 2-2 away to Rangers.

Even the hard-to-impress Chris Sutton lauded the former Tottenham powerhouse, labelling him ‘immense‘ on Twitter.

Carter-Vickers never managed a Premier League outing for the North Londoners, whose academy he came through.

But having only just turned 25 on New Year’s Eve, this is a player who clearly has a very promising career ahead of him – and one who could find himself linked with a return to the Premier League, too.

Yes, he wasn’t needed at Tottenham last summer, but surely he can’t have been a million miles from Conte’s plans, if his Celtic form is anything to go by.

This sale for as little as £6 million could come back to haunt the Lilywhites.
