From starting his career at Chelsea to now donning Tottenham Hotspur colours, Dominic Solanke now begins a new chapter in his career.

The 26-year-old was one of the standout strikers last season, scoring 19 Premier League goals and he was unlucky to miss out on England’s Euro 2024 squad.

Tottenham secured the signing of Solanke in a club-record deal and he could be thrown straight into the deep end for his side’s Premier League opener on Monday night.

Ange Postecoglou’s side open their account away at newly-promoted Leicester City and there is every chance that Solanke starts.

A large proportion of Tottenham fans are pretty pleased that their club have brought in a proven number nine.

But Jamie O’Hara isn’t happy about what he is hearing about Solanke following his move to Hotspur Way.

The former midfielder thinks ‘Tottenham have done alright’ and they have made some ’solid signings’, including Solanke.

But O’Hara has hit at those for ‘kicking up a fuss’ that ‘he’s not worth the money’ by defending the transfer, as he told talkSPORT (13/08/24 at 10:10 pm).

Added to that, O’Hara was confident that Tottenham will finish above Chelsea ahead of the new season.

Dominic Solanke’s transfer fee defended

“Tottenham have done alright,” said O’Hara. “We aren’t back. I am not saying ‘we are back’ because we never left.

“But we have made some solid signings. That’s what I am going to say. I like Solanke.

“People are kicking up a fuss saying ‘he is not worth the money’. Well, it’s expensive now for players, especially strikers who score goals in the Premier League. He is proven, he has done it, he is good. You aren’t signing a nobody like Chelsea do and brought in 20 players nobody has heard of. You have got Solanke, he is a good player. He scores goals. Spurs will finish above Chelsea.”

How many goals will Dominic Solanke score for Tottenham?

If he can get close to 20 again or above that number, then it’s a massive thumbs-up for Tottenham and what they can do next season – although, some think Tottenham should have signed Ivan Toney instead of Solanke.

Solanke has already hailed Son Heung-min and James Maddison ahead of his arrival and preparations to work with his new teammates.

Someone like Maddison can hit double figures in goals and you just know Son will do that next season.

If others chip in with goals, then Tottenham will score more than enough goals to finish in the top four.
