Speaking to The Independent, Alexander Isak has been speaking about his ambition to play in the Premier League one day.

Isak was one of the stars of Euro 2020 this summer. He didn’t actually score a single goal in the tournament, but his silky footwork and incredible work rate still saw him labelled as a ‘special’ player over the summer.

Inevitably, his performances led to prying eyes from England with both Arsenal and Liverpool credited with an interest in the striker.

As we all know, a move never came to fruition, but the Sweden international has now opened up on his desire to play in the Premier League.

What’s been said?

Isak says that he’d like to play in England.

“I’m in a good place at the moment, I’m very happy, but one day it would be nice to play in England as well,” Isak said.

“They have six or seven of the biggest clubs in the world, it’s a very high level, and of course one day it would be an alternative. Every player wants to be the best version of themselves and reach the highest possible level. I have expectations for myself that I’m trying to fulfil, so we’ll see where the journey takes me in future.”

Needs to step up

Isak certainly showed glimpses of talent this summer, but if he’s going to get a big move he needs to step up a gear or two.

Isak only has three league goals to his name this season, despite playing nine games for Real Sociedad.

Luckily though, the striker has hit a bit of form recently, netting three goals in his last three games, but as the first six matches of the season showed, he’s a bit too inconsistent right now.

If Isak is going to catch the eye of the Premier League’s big boys he needs to keep up the form he has shown over the past few weeks rather than reverting back to his form at the beginning of the campaign.
