Speaking on ITV’s coverage of Ukraine vs Sweden (29/6/21 8PM) Freddie Ljungberg has been waxing-lyrical about reported Liverpool target Alexander Isak.
Isak has been lighting up Euro 2020 with Sweden, and while he didn’t score a single goal in any of his group games, Ljungberg has seemingly been very impressed by what he’s seen.
Indeed, ahead of the Sweden game the Arsenal legend had nothing but good things to say about the reported Liverpool target.
What’s been said?
Ljungberg has been full of praise for Isak.
“100 per cent he’s been the one that’s special for Sweden. Forsberg as well, but he’s different from all the other players because he has amazing pace, so even if we’re very defensive, if he gets the ball we can break and teams struggle to catch him, and even if they do catch him it’s usually a free-kick and then Sweden can rest from the free-kick, so he’s very, very important,” Ljungberg said.

Perfect for Liverpool
Does it not sound as if Isak is absolutely perfect for Jurgen Klopp’s side?
Amazing pace is a key attribute for an attacker in Liverpool’s system, and the ability to catch teams out on the break is something that is vital for the Reds.
Could you imagine Isak sprinting up the pitch with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane to catch a team on the break? It’s a frightening prospect as well as a mouth-watering one.
Of course, whether or not Liverpool firm up their interest remains to be seen, but if Isak does come to Anfield it could be an inspired signing.
