Radu Dragusin’s agent is pushing for a deal to be completed with Tottenham Hotspur this month with the Premier League giants ‘optimistic’ that an agreement could be found over the weekend.

With no breakthrough yet forthcoming, and with reports in Italy suggesting that Napoli could hijack a deal Tottenham have worked so hard on, Spurs supporters could be forgiven for feeling a little nervy.

But worry not, HITC Football understands that the London giants remain firm favourites to secure the sought-after Radu Dragusin’s services.

The Romania international does have interest at Roma and AC Milan, but talks with the Serie A powerhouses are not at an advanced stage. Tottenham are still considered more likely winners than Napoli too, with Spurs sources ‘optimistic’ that a deal will be finalised over the next 48 hours or so.

Tottenham confident of Radu Dragusin deal

HITC has also been told that Dragusin’s agent – Florin Manea – is pushing for a deal to be done between Genoa and Ange Postecoglou’s side. A sticking point could be the fee. Genoa are holding out for £30 million. Tottenham, meanwhile, do not want to go above the £25 million mark, with chairman Daniel Levy always keen to shave a penny or two of any arrangement.

As things stand, however, it would be a surprise if Dragusin was not a Tottenham player by the time the clock strikes midnight on January 31st, with the Romania international still potentially touching down in North London within the first week of the window.

Agent previously said Arsenal and Newcastle were keen

Manea claimed recently that Newcastle United and Arsenal had shown an interest in Dragusin. Tottenham have since emerged as the centre-halves’ most likely destination, having scouted him during Genoa’s December clash with Dragusin’s former employers Juventus.

“There is a lot of interest. I had a discussion with Tottenham. They told me they were interested in him,” the outspoken agent told Digi Sport a few weeks back.

“There are a few more clubs from Germany, a few from the Premier League. I believe that if something is achieved, it will be in the Premier League.”
