– EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Ettifaq midfielder Jordan Henderson has now received a proposal to join Dutch giants Ajax as he bids for a move away from the Saudi Pro League, HITC Football understands.
HITC Football had previously reported that multiple Premier League clubs had been offered the chance to sign the English midfielder, as well as European giants Bayern Munich and Juventus.
Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen were also offered the opportunity to sign the 33-year-old midfielder but it has now emerged Ajax have also been offered the chance to sign the former Liverpool midfielder.
After a dismal run of form for his current side Al-Ettifaq, which included 9 defeats in a row, it is understandable why the English midfielder may be keen on moving to pastures new.

Ajax move
We understand that the Dutch side are currently assessing the situation around the midfielder’s future and Henderson is due for talks with the Saudi Pro League side this week to hash out his next move.
Henderson’s people remain firm in their stance of wanting to leave and will underline this decision when they have this meeting.
The Englishman would be open to a move anywhere in Europe but they hope his exit would be a loan move away from the club.
The Saudi side, however, are understandably looking for a fee for Henderson and would be reluctant to countenance a temporary departure for the former Premier League and Champions League winner.
Henderson prepared to forfeit wages
It is also our understanding that the English midfielder is aware he would lose a big chunk of his current wage which he earns in the Middle East but would be prepared to do this to force through a move.
As mentioned, there are no clubs who are currently leading the race for the England international but a host of clubs are currently assessing the situation around Henderson’s future.
Despite Henderson moving away from Europe in the summer, HITC Football understands that if the Englishman were to remain in the Middle East, this would not put off Gareth Southgate from including the midfielder in his squad for the upcoming European Championships this summer.
