- EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Jordan Henderson has informed Saudi Pro League side Al-Ettifaq that he would like a move back to Europe this month, HITC Football understands.
Former Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has failed to settle as expected and he has told Al-Ettifaq officials including Steven Gerrard – whose own future is far from certain with their form up and down – that he would like a move this month.
Henderson decided that after 12 years at Liverpool, which included lifting a Premier League title and winning the Champions League back in 2019, a move to the Middle East was the right thing for his career.
The Englishman received criticism for this decision and sources have now confirmed to HITC Football that he is keen on coming back to Europe, with a few Premier League teams notified about his availability.

Intermediaries hard at work
In terms of where the Englishman may end up, it’s our understanding that the first club who were made aware of his potential availability was former club Liverpool.
Intermediaries have been hard at work over the weekend attempting to offer their client to some of the Premier League’s top teams.
Some of these sides who have been made aware of his availability include Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, Crystal Palace, Fulham and West Ham.
A move to a different European league would be something that Henderson would consider and sources have confirmed that Juventus and Bayern Munich have both been spoken to, especially given both sides are scouring the market for a midfielder.
Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen are also understood to be one of the sides who have been offered the English midfielder.
Al-Ettifaq unhappy
Al-Ettifaq are understood to not be happy with the latest development with Henderson but would accept an offer for the Englishman if a suitable one arrives.
The most likely scenario is a loan deal with the option to buy Henderson that could be triggered if certain requirements are met.
Henderson’s England future has been up in the air with his move to the Middle East but HITC understands that the 33-year-old has been told by England boss Gareth Southgate that he does not need to move back to the Premier League in terms of his international place ahead of the Euros.
