Alessandro Bastoni to Tottenham Hotspur isn’t going away.
Spurs were heavily linked with signing the Inter Milan powerhouse during the summer transfer window, but it never quite materialised.
But journalist Dean Jones claimed to Give Me Sport in September – as covered by HITC Sport – that there was a ‘good chance’ of Tottenham signing him in 2023, even pipping Manchester City to his signature.
The Italian defender has been described as a ‘dream signing‘ for Antonio Conte in North London.

But Fabrizio Romano believes that it’ll be a very difficult transfer to successfully pull off – and revealed that he won’t be going anywhere in the January transfer window.
He told Caught Offside on Thursday: “Sorry Tottenham fans, but I have no news on Alessandro Bastoni right now; he has a long-term contract with Inter and he won’t leave in January, despite speculation to the contrary.
“Bastoni is a top player and it makes sense that the Antonio Conte link keeps coming up, but, honestly, I don’t see this as an easy deal for Spurs.”
Could Alessandro Bastoni to Tottenham Hotspur happen?
Well, they certainly need him anyway.
Conte desperately needs to reinforce his centre-back options and really, more emphasis should’ve been placed on this during the summer transfer window.
The only central defender who arrived was Clement Lenglet on a season-long loan from Barcelona and the France international hasn’t enjoyed a stellar start to life in the Premier League.
Come January, the Italian manager is going to need stronger defensive options because a lack of them is what’s costing the Lilywhites this season.
