Some Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation that the club turned down an offer from Swansea City for Sam Greenwood.
According to Sky Sports Transfer Live blog (12:22pm, February 1, 2021), Swansea made an approach to Leeds to sign Greenwood on transfer deadline day, as covered by HITC Sport.
However, the Premier League club turned down the Swans, according to the report. The Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath has made the same claim on Twitter.
Greenwood joined Leeds in the summer of 2020 after leaving Arsenal and has been playing well for the Under-23 side.
The teenager is very talented and hugely promising, with Leeds Under-23 head coach Mark Jackson describing him as “exciting” on BBC Radio Leeds in November 2020.
It is only a matter of time before the England Under-19 international plays in the Premier League. The youngster made his senior debut for the Whites in the FA Cup in January 2021.

Some Leeds fans have given their take on the club reportedly turning down Swansea for Greenwood, with a number of supporters reminding the Swans about the Daniel James saga.
James, now at Manchester United, was close to joining Leeds from Swansea in January 2019, as shown in the Amazon documentary ‘Take Us Home’ about the Whites’ 2018-19 season and reported in The Daily Mail.
Meanwhile, there has been praise for Leeds duo Patrick Bamford and Stuart Dallas.
Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Garth Crooks was impressed by Bamford’s decision to pass the ball unselfishly to Jack Harrison to score against Leicester City at the weekend, while ex-Leeds striker Whelan has raved about Dallas.
Crooks wrote on BBC Sport: “A lot was made of Bamford’s unselfishness in front of goal for Jack Harrison to seal the points against Leicester. What nonsense – it was the right, and only, thing to do.”
Whelan said about Dallas on BBC Radio Leeds: “He never disappoints. That’s the good thing about Stuart Dallas. He is so honest, so hard-working, he has got quality, loads of energy. What he brings to the side should never be ignored.”
